View Full Version : Ambidextrous Players!

There's a player at our local club who is really good. One day I was watching him closely, trying to find a hole in his game because he's so much better than me and noticed that at certain points in the game his racquet was in one hand, and then sometimes it was in his left!

Now, I'm not sure if he was doing that just to give himself a bit more of a challenge or if he is actually ambedextrous (I called him out but he came back with a joke so I'm still not sure!), but that leaves me with the questions:

1. Are ambidextrous players allowed to switch hands during a play?

2. Is there a major benefit for ambidextrous players? Obviously some that come to mind are changing hands when playing with a left handed partner and changing from time to time to confuse your opponents.

You are allowed to use both right and left in tournaments, however, I find that it actually slows you down, unless you have a really weak backhand...
